Red Barn is ideally situated for walkers, cyclists and tourists alike being well placed
right on the edge of the Lake District National Park.

Ullswater is just 4 miles away and both Penrith and Keswick are close by.

Also within easy reach is the Eden Valley, North Pennines, Carlisle,

Solway Firth and Hadrians Wall. Scotland is only 45 minutes drive to the North.

Red Barn itself is set in a very peaceful and private location yet is only one and a half
miles from the main Penrith to Keswick road.

There are extensive private grounds with views across to Helvellyn and Blencathra,
and, with an abundance of country lanes and public footpaths, there are a variety
of walks in the immediate vicinity.

Red Barn's peaceful location also makes it a haven for wildlife, with owls,
red squirrels and woodpeckers just some of the regular visitors.

The busy market town of Penrith is approximately 5 miles to the east, and has
a good range of shops, supermarkets and places to eat out.  

Keswick is a bustling Lakeland town and there are regular
boat cruises around Derwentwater giving access up into Borrowdale.

To the west of Keswick is the Whinlatter Forest Park and beyond this is the town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth.

Also easily accessible to the south of Keswick are Dove Cottage
at Grasmere and Beatrix Potter World at Windermere.

Further to the north lies historic Carlisle with its superb castle and shopping.
